SENIOR SCHOOL

At Moray Firth School, Senior School will encompass Years 10-13, that's Secondary 3-6 equivalent, the exam years.  In preparation for it, our Middle School Pupils follow a wide-ranging and challenging curriculum which allows them to choose from an equally wide range of subjects at National Examination levels, either at our own future Senior School or elsewhere.   We anticipate that pupils may well join us at Senior levels although we firmly believe that the combination of breadth and depth in our Middle School curriculum is the best preparation for Senior School study.

It will offer a full range of national exams.  Which Exam Boards we will use is currently under discussion and no decision has yet been made.  We are likely to offer a range of Boards, possibly mixing English and Scottish, according to pupil needs and subjects variety in demand.  All exams chosen will be recognised by Further and Higher Education authorities and others.

IN ADDITION WE SHALL OFFER SOMETHING VERY UNUSUAL, AND CERTAINLY UNIQUE IN THE NORTH OF SCOTLAND.

We shall run our Senior School both as a "normal" school offering the whole enriching school experience to our pupils, and also as a drop-in Learning Centre.  What do we mean by the latter?  Our Learning Centre would offer part-time access to our range of facilities - of great advantage to two particular groups of pupils:

1.  Home-educated children could sign up for individual subjects of study within our mainstream (day) curriculum to obtain national qualifications to allow them access to Further or Higher Education:

2.  Pupils studying at other schools, who are keen to study a subject either not on offer at their school or which they can't include in their own curriculum because of timetabling restrictions, could study with us after hours for National Qualifications.

More information on this will be published on our website as soon as we are in a position to make further comment.
