OUR ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE
Because our School is founded on the principle of a partnership between Family and School in the education of our Children, it's very important that we all make the right decision about whether Moray Firth School is the right one for you. Children's - and parents' - happiness depends in part on the knowledge that they are at the best possible school for them. We'll want to talk to prospective parents about their ideas and hopes for their children's education and we hope you'll have lots of questions about our School.
We have three criteria for admitting children to Moray Firth School:
- that it is in the child's best interests to attend
- that it is in the School's best interests to accept that child
- that the child's parents or guardians understand and fully support the School's educational philosophy and ethos
To make sure School and Parents together make the right decision, we invite you to follow the following simple steps:
- check out this website and/or request a Welcome pack
- arrange an appointment to meet our Principal, Mrs Anni Cole-Hamilton, and see round the School (it's ideal if you can do this during a normal school day but appointments at other times can be arranged)
- arrange a Taster Day for your child so s/he can find out if s/he likes the school - talking to other pupils is always revealing! You can book a personal Taster or you can join one of our more formal ones, when groups of children can try us out (click on TASTER DAY on the left).
You think Moray Firth School is just right for your child. What next?
- request a place at the School
- Mrs Cole-Hamilton will ask to see previous school or nursery reports, or talk your child over with you in detail should s/he have been home educated
- she will also want to discuss the School-Parent contract with you to ensure both parties share the same outlook about education and agree on the fundamentals.
You are offered and wish to accept a place at Moray Firth School. What next?
- The paperwork! Two forms only, our Registration and Enrolment forms which request all the details you would expect and require you to sign our School-Parent Contract
- parents are asked to pay a deposit of approx 1/4 annual fees as guarantee they will take up the place and continue to pay fees (returnable at the end of your child's education here)
- you then join the School's monthly fee payment scheme at the appropriate time (usually 1st July of the year you join). Some parents prefer to pay annually in advance (2% discount) or quarterly and this can be arranged.
You would like your child to be educated part-time at Moray Firth School. What next?
We welcome part-time pupils. In particular, home-educating families may welcome the chance to benefit from just part of our programme. Enrolment follows exactly the same procedures as above. Fees are pro rata, with a small admin charge.
Full details and copies of the School-Parent Contract available from School.
